Got home safely

Well, I got home safely after taking my first trip on public transport in 10 years. The buses weren’t quite as bad as I remembered it, and there weren’t any bogans or rednecks. What’s interesting to note is how the bus stops are divided into socio-economic areas: The Express Buses on the left-hand side (that travel from the city straight to Glenorchy) carry all the office workers. The all-stops buses on the right-hand side carry the…um…ordinary folk back to their homes. Guess which side the bogans sit on? A clue: It’s not the left-hand side of the road.

The actual bus trip itself was pretty uneventful. Except for the elderly gentleman sitting behind me, making funny cow noises in his sleep. And the sun shining through the windows, half-blinding the passengers and making the interior a bit stuffy. But I got back home in one piece.

I’m patiently counting down the hours to when my car is returned. Public transport might be cheaper, but it’s a heck of lot more uncomfortable and should only be considered as a last resort. Like, for instance, if your car is at the repair-shop.
