I couldn’t agree more

I think Mrs. Barassi's comments sums up my feelings on the matter perfectly:

A pack mentality, greed, consumer madness, lack of a social
conscience and drugs — especially ice — were to blame for an increase
in violence, she told The Age.

This
view, which she has held for some time, was re-enforced by the attack
on her husband, Ron, on New Year's Eve, when he was knocked to the
ground and kicked in the head after chasing a man who had attacked a
woman in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda.

I hope that Mrs. Barassi never visits internet forums, because that's exactly the attitude you see from people nowadays. It's all about rights, rather than responsibilities. Some (if not most) people spend more time thinking about how much they can take from the world, rather than how much they can give. And I can't help but think that the current Financial Crisis is the ultimate expression of that philosophy.
