Okay, that was pretty fast

I was sceptical when President Obama promised that both he and his Administrative team would "hit the ground running". These are certainly optimistic and idealistic changes to White House policy

BARACK Obama has signed his first executive orders as President,
determined to ensure members of his administration will serve the
public, not themselves. The President promised a new era of accountability and transparency,
saying there would be a "clean break from business as usual".

His first annoucement was a pay freeze on senior White House staff.  He said American families were tightening their belts, and so should Washington. But he also set out new restrictions on lobbyists and introduced ethics briefings for all members of the administration.

After 8 years of President Bush's Administration, my expectations of US Government are extremely low…heck, they've hit rock bottom. So I couldn't quite believe it when they announced these changes. A White House that serves the public? Impossible! Ridiculous! But President Obama wants to do it – so good luck to him.
