Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 was released in Australia last Friday 29th January. I've been playing this game for almost 10 hours and I'm less than a quarter of the way through. The biggest change from the first game was that they've simplified the inventory system – not necessarily for the better. There are no stats for the weapons and armors, which means there's no way to compare them and see which is better. Also, you can only make money by looting crates or completing missions.

OTOH, the combat interface is a big improvement. You essentially use only three keys to command your entire squad, which means you spend less time faffing about while holding down the spacebar.

Bioware have also decided to go for a "grimmer and grittier" feel this time. I can't understand why fanboys and companies like "grim and gritty"? Just what is so attractive about an overwhelmingly brown and grey color palette and characters that never smile?
